Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet informed of any harm in association with the event," they stated.
City officials said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for information.
An important official stated the incident left him stunned and had to be solved promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in five years prior.
